Costume Devising Workshop

Bobby Brewer-Wallin, the Costume Designer for My Case is Altered: Tales of a 21st Century Roaring Girl, worked with MFA costume design students in a devising workshop just this past week. Students created a community time line based on responses to a list of questions. Using a poem by Elizabeth Alexander, students composed short five-minute performances using found objects.

Struan Leslie, the current George A. Miller Visiting Artist, was formerly the first Head of Movement at the Royal Shakespeare Company. While at the RSC he was movement director and choreographer on 12 productions and supported movement practice on all other productions and areas of the company’s work. Before working at the RSC he worked on more than 150 productions in the UK, Europe, and the United States as movement director and choreographer in classical theatre, opera, and devised work. Leslie’s work has been produced at the National Theatre, London; Manchester International Festival; Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh; Teatro Piccolo, Milan; Lincoln Centre Festival, New York, American Repertory Theatre, Cambridge; Berkeley Repertory Theatre, California; Welsh National Opera; and English National Opera. He is a published author on the subject of staging chorus work and regularly speaks and leads master classes on these topics at conferences and symposia. He was also Artistic Director at Circus Space for the 2014 Silver Anniversary Gala program. Leslie's commitment to training and education can be noted in his ongoing participation with education and training programs at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and the Wooster Group Summer Institute in New York. Previously at University of Illinois he directed 'Song of Songs' a collaborative cross-arts theatre piece across the departments of dance, music and theatre.
